Job Details
The Director of Sales & Marketing is responsible for achieving the company’s annual sales targets. This Des Moines, IA based role drives results by effectively leveraging the resources and talents of the Bratney sales organization to maximize lead generation and convert opportunities into revenue. This includes working together with Bratney’s in-house product specialist teams and our Europe-based exclusive equipment manufacturing partners to ensure alignment between Bratney and the production goals of its proprietary partners, as well as driving construction and engineering sales by generating new qualified project opportunities through existing sales channels and new strategic corporate customer relationships.
In addition, this position oversees marketing strategy and execution, ensuring alignment between marketing initiatives and sales objectives to drive pipeline growth and brand visibility.
The Director will foster a culture of collaboration and personal and professional growth while ensuring adherence to a defined sales process, and will hold team members accountable for meeting individual sales goals and performance objectives.
Responsibilities
• Set annual sales targets and goals by territory, industry, and product line, and build the plan to hit them.
• Lead, coach, and hold accountable a sales and marketing team of 15+, with a strong focus on training and growth.
• Design sales territories that give Bratney strong coverage across all key markets.
• Drive full adoption of HubSpot (or comparable CRM) across the team — clean data, standard playbooks, and dashboards that produce clear, actionable insight.
• Own Bratney's brand and marketing strategy, making sure customers understand our full range of equipment, projects, engineering, fabrication, and after-sales service.
• Build and execute integrated sales and marketing plans that grow revenue and pipeline while protecting profitability.
• Keep sales and marketing activity aligned with company policy and process.
• Align cross-functional teams around shared priorities, clear communication, and smart use of people and budget.
Requirements
Skills/Abilities
• Strong CRM skills. You've worked deeply in HubSpot, Salesforce, or a similar system — building playbooks, automating dashboards, and turning data into decisions.
• 5+ years selling long-lead-time capital equipment (6+ month sales cycles, $50,000+ per unit) in a business-to-business setting — not sales through distributors.
• Product management experience in equipment sales is strongly preferred. We are looking for someone who has shaped the product offering, pricing, and go-to-market strategy—not solely sold the equipment.
• Proven leadership coaching and directly managing teams of 10 or more.
• A track record of negotiating long-term contracts.
• Experience building marketing strategy for an established brand, with real results in market capture and revenue growth.
• Success leading cross-discipline teams and aligning outside partners around a shared goal.
• Experience working with international manufacturers or suppliers is a plus.
• Comfortable in industrial settings like grain mills and food processing plants; able to travel up to 30%, including some overnight travel.
• Strong PC skills, including Excel, CRM software, and Outlook.
Education
• Bachelor's degree preferred in business, sales, marketing, or a related field. Or a Technical degree with an MBA.
•7-10 years of sales management experience leading medium-sized, geographically spread teams.
•A background in agriculture, seed, grain, milling, food production, packaging, or consumer products is a plus.
Other Requirements
• A “coach and team player" mentality and positive attitude to support all facets of our business. Leads culture by example.
• Demonstrated ability and track record of leadership and accountability.
• Must possess or be able to procure a valid US Passport.
• Pre-employment and random pool drug and alcohol screening.
• Background screening including previous employment, education, criminal history, and driving record verification.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to sit and drive for extended periods of time.
- Occasionally required to climb up/down ladders.
- Occasionally required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
